Ray Optics Interactive Lab
Ray optics studies how light travels in straight lines and changes direction when it reflects from a surface or refracts between materials. It helps explain mirrors, lenses, images, prisms, cameras, spectacles, microscopes, and telescopes.
Start with any lesson. Change the sliders and observe the diagram and calculated output. Press "Animate light ray" to watch light travel along the rays. The drawings are simplified learning diagrams and are not all drawn to exact scale.
